Hi there, Maxx Dezio here…
I am a veteran Sales manager, as I worked in several big Italian companies and holdings in the electro-tech sector. In this environment, I started as a salesperson, working my way until being a sales trainee and then a branch manager for 8 Years…
I even ended up owning a company in the solar energy industry…
So, yes I am Italian, but I´ve been living in Germany for almost 11 years now…
This choice was demanded by the deteriorating everyday situation I was experiencing in my hometown, and the whole nation as well.
Let me explain as quickly as I can: I have always been a go-getter by nature since I was a child.
About Me: a “rocking” childhood
After the first years of my life exploring the world by crawling, playing hide and seek with the kids in the neighborhood, and watching cartoons, I bumped into the music world just starting my teens.
We are talking early 80s here – no Internet yet, no smartphones, no YouTube, and the like…
But the little Leader in me took over: after a few months, I was the leading vocalist of a hard rock cover teenager band in my area. We started gigging right away – I was only 13!!
This brought me to further connections, until securing the gig as the lead vocalist for Requiem. This was an emerging metal band that went along recording albums, touring the Nation, and gaining the status of “cult band” in Italy in the middle 80s.
So, That´s me…a 16yrs old local rockstar, doing records, touring and signing autographs (ready for some vintage Photos??)…
About me: Moving on
At that point, Internal disagreements and annoyances started kicking in. I left the band and tried to do things my way, but the need for a stable stream of income to cover my expenses became critical.
My course of studies in schools was not helping.
I just secured a high-school degree in a Scientific Lyceum…useless if you don´t go ahead attending the University. So I attended medical University for 3 yers…
Also, having played guitar for a while, I started my journey as an instructor.
(as a matter of fact, The “professional way” to market my services was by handmade flyers!😎).
I gained a solid reputation in my area, which resulted in making some money and a connection with a local music school where I taught the basics to classes of up to 22 children each!!

So I decided to attend high school again to get a more useful qualification. I graduated as a professional dental technician at the age of 21.
“Everyone in the world have teeth…right?”😊
Listen closely now…
My job as a dental technician in a Laboratory in Pescara – Italy produced the miraculous salary of 30,000Liras per week…(30,000Liras = ca 15€ = ca 16$ per week…yes you read correctly!).
No matter how hard I submitted my resume to other laboratories. No luck! Nobody wanted to employ a fresh-from-school “rookie” for a decent salary…
I was already away from my parents for a while now. I was sleeping in a spare bed in a friend´s flat after a couple of weeks of sleeping in my car…
I was working almost 16 hours a day with two jobs (the other one was as a handyman at a beach establishment on the waterfront until late at night).

Here came 3 important lessons:
- #1 – Nobody can rescue you but Yourself
- #2 – There is always a way out
- #3 – Setbacks last forever only if you allow them to
About Me: An Answer from Nowhere
I was forced to think out of the box – how could I combine my inner drive with the communication skills of a former trainer? How could I capitalize on the desperate energy of the moment coming from hunger?
Then the Universe delivered to me the answer: I got employed as a sales professional in the electrotechnical sector.
As I worked my a** off in the first years, and as my reputation started building rapidly, money came solidly month after month.
I was in my 20s and thriving!I
I finally rented a regular apartment with my girlfriend Wilma (still my wife today after 34 years together)..and then we even bought a house! Those were the good times, the future looked great…and the Italian Lira was still around (late 90s)!
The killer currency
But then something unexpected tore this picture to pieces: The Euro came into the picture.
The purchasing power of everybody was cut in half overnight: the consumer prices doubled with the salaries staying the same…
The electro market started to crash as other sectors, and I was starting to have payment issues from my clients.
Long story short: I tried to pivot myself to other jobs, even driving trucks for a while, but always had to get back to sales.
It did not work. And we, now parents of 3 little children had to find a solution.
About Me: Giant Steps
I moved alone to Australia at 43 years of age, searching for solutions there. And I did find possible ways to make it. Only, without providing a ton of details here, this easily was too much for the whole family to take, moving to the other side of the planet…
So we turned to Germany. And it was anything but easy: new language, absolutely different culture, laws, and habits, particularly in the workplace.
I was living there absolutely ALONE in a small room for the first year (my wife was taking care of the kids in Italy to hold costs down…),
I kept trying to design a future for me and my family…
Stick To Your Guns
It took me almost 11 years to come to a point where we are today.
We accomplished a scenario where we could stop working together for years without starving or compromising our lifestyle.
(As a matter of fact, it helps a lot that we are no“fashion family”. We do save money regularly and have developed healthy strategies related to spending).
I have always been interested in everything related to the business world and how to prevent a person from depending solely on a monthly check..
I involved myself in financial trading for 25 years: I traded Stocks, Options, Forex, and ultimately USA Bonds just “reading the tape”.
Some years ago I got to know blogging and I was hooked straight away. The results are the pages you read on wannabethebest.me.
So, why should you listen to me?
Well, I am not a millionaire, but I am probably very similar to you. I am a regular guy, a father of 3 incredible kids, a worker, a thinker.
